Bournemouth are on the brink of confirming the signing of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andrei Radu.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Romania international has completed his medical tests with the Cherries ahead of a season-long loan deal with an option to buy for €8million should they see fit.

The 26-year-old shot stopper came through Inter’s academy set-up in 2015 and has since gone on to make just five appearances for the club with the majority of his time spent on loan at other Italian sides, Auxerre being the one exception.

He signed permanently for Genoa in 2019 for €9million following a successful loan spell, but immediately returned to Inter when the club activated their buy back clause for €12million.

Besides Genoa and Auxerre, he has spent time on loan with Avelino, Parma and Cremonese.

Radu won his first cap for the Romania national team last year and now has four appearances to his name for his country.

The Cherries currently have Neto, Darren Randolph and Mark Travers as options between the sticks for the club, the first two of which are 34 and 36.

Signing a new, young goalkeeper seems the sensible move for Bournemouth as they look to maintain their Premier League status for another season.

Is Radu the man?

It is unclear whether Radu would be battling it out with Neto to be first choice or whether he would be signing purely as an understudy for when Neto moves on, but it is an encouraging sign nonetheless that the goalkeeping department is being strengthened.

The goalkeeper has 108 appearances to his name overall in club football, and with chances limited in Italy it may be the perfect time to make the switch to England.

Could he become number one?
