Bournemouth in race for £15m striker

Bournemouth are in a race with Premier League rivals to secure the services of Che Adams this summer.

As reported by EPL Index, Everton and Bournemouth are set to battle it out over Che Adams, with Southampton prepared to let the striker go for the right price.

The Saints paid £15 million to sign the Scottish forward from Birmingham City in 2019. The 27-year-old has since been a regular starter for the south coast club, registering 25 goals in 123 Premier League appearances. However, Southampton may be seeking to cash in on Adams following their relegation last season.

Whilst the Cherries are focusing on bolstering their midfield options, Andoni Iraola’s squad could do with sharpening in attack too. Adams would bring plenty of top flight experience with him to the Vitality Stadium, and he will get goals if given chances.

Everton, for their part, are even more desperate to land a reliable goalscorer in this transfer window. They could be prepared to push hard for Adams, which may make getting a deal done difficult for Bournemouth.

Bournemouth must avoid transfer pitfall

One thing Bournemouth must avoid is getting dragged into a bidding war that inflates the player’s value. That’s a trap that Bournemouth can’t afford to get tangled up in at this stage of the summer.

Adams is a decent striker. However, there are other options on the market with greater potential than the 23-cap Scotland international can offer.

Despite having been likened with Ronaldo before, Adams doesn’t represent much of an upgrade on Dominic Solanke, who currently leads the line for Iraola’s side. For that reason, Bournemouth should only enter talks for Adams if there is a real bargain to be had. Otherwise, they can handle letting Everton have a free run at the player and focus on finding players who can significantly raise their level.
