Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola wants to see some more new faces come into the club this summer.
Bournemouth have already added Justin Kluivert, Hamed Traore, Milos Kerkez, and Romain Faivre to their ranks in this transfer window. However, Andoni Iraola still believes his squad is significantly understocked in the middle of the park.
With Joe Rothwell and Philip Billing both being short of full fitness, the need to bolster the Cherries’ engine room is even more pressing. Lewis Cook is the only fully-fit, senior central midfielder at the club. Even if Rothwell and Cook were available, Bournemouth would still be light on options.
As quoted by the Daily Echo, the Spanish coach said, “I think we need probably more than one player there. I think we need different styles, different types of player that can help us in these three positions we use in the midfield.”

Bournemouth have to back Iraola
It is vital that Bournemouth are able to strengthen in this area before the close of the transfer window. They have a long, tough campaign ahead that could quickly turn into a nightmare season if Iraola’s side are repeatedly overrun in the middle of the park.
Having done so well to ensure their top flight survival last season, the south coast club now need to back up that success with smart investment in the market. If Iraola is willing to speak so publicly about the club’s need for new additions, then it must be an especially pressing issue.
Having taken the step to remove Gary O’Neill from the dugout and install Iraola in his place at the Vitality Stadium, the onus is on the club to back their chosen man. The best way they can do that is by giving him the players he says he needs.
