Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has spoken out on Kieffer Moore’s place in his plans.

Despite apparent interest from elsewhere, Kieffer Moore’s future remains with Bournemouth according to Andoni Iraola, as reported by the Daily Echo.

As quoted by the Daily Echo, the Spanish coach said, “I think probably it’s not the area where we prioritise right now. We have other needs before the number nine area…But we cannot guarantee anything because there is a lot of time…But I’m happy with his performance, how he’s training.”

Moore was not a regular starter for the Cherries in the Premier League last season. The 30-year-old striker made 15 of his 27 Premier League appearances from the bench. He came on after the 80th minute on 7 of those 15 occasions. However, he was still able to chip in with 4 goals.

Moore is an excellent option for Iraola to have in his squad. At 6’5”, he can be a major force in both boxes. He allows Bournemouth to change their style of play, and try a new approach. Having a player that opens up so many different tactical options, and makes the entire squad’s play more versatile, is such a bonus for any manager.

Moore is brilliant at holding up the ball and bringing others into play, and if he gets chances he can be a very decent finisher.

Moore has a part to play for Bournemouth

The 34-cap Wales international may wish to seek more regular football elsewhere, in order to help preserve his status at international level. However, if Moore is happy to stick around, Iraola should be delighted to keep him.

He will never be the Cherries’ first choice to lead the line week in, week out at Premier League level. However, the man the Cherries paid £5 million for in 2022 is capable of producing game-changing moments, and that could prove crucial in the club’s fight for top flight survival.

Iraola is also right to point out that Bournemouth’s strike-force shouldn’t be the club’s major point of concern for the rest of the summer. They have solid options up front and need to focus on bolstering their midfield and defensive contingents.
