Andoni Iraola has admitted that he has a tough decision on his hands to decide who plays on the wings for Bournemouth.

David Brooks has played in both matches so far this season, starting the first game of the season.

He scored three goals in five pre season games and has looked accomplished in the Premier League.

75 minutes against West Ham United on opening day was the most he has played since August 2021.

With six wingers on the books at the Vitality, Iraola has a constant decision on his mind as to who plays.

What has Andoni Iraola said about David Brooks?

The Welshman has had a extremely tough few years and it is great to see him back playing for the Cherries.

His pre season was lauded by his manager: “He has been very, very good in pre-season.”

The game against the Hammers represented a different level compared to pre season.

“West Ham was not easy for him, a lot of physical duels.

“He struggled at the beginning of the game. As the game went on, I think he improved a lot.”

It was always going to be a baptism of fire for Brooks, but high praise from his boss will go a long way.

The competition for the wide midfielder is high with so much talent out wide.

This fact wasn’t shied away from by Iraola, saying: “It is a position where we have a lot of competition there, because even without Dango [Ouattara] and [Marcus] Tavernier, I think we have a lot of chances there.”

This may appear to be an issue for the Spaniard, having to choose between all these players.

He doesn’t see it this way: “It is going to be tough for me to decide during the season, but it is good news for the team I think.”

Lots of quality on show and in the wings for the Cherries. With injured players to come back, the squad is packed with great players.
