Bournemouth have reportedly stepped in at the last second to sign Max Aarons from Norwich City for £7 million.

It had been heavily reported in recent weeks that Aarons was a target for Daniel Farke and Leeds United, but it seems that his destination will now be the Vitality.

According to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter Bournemouth have dropped a deal to sign Joakim Maehle as the opportunity to sign Aarons came up.

Who is Max Aarons?

Aarons started his professional career at Norwich in 2018 and went from strength to strength and became a nailed on starter over the years.

In the 2018/19 season, he was included in the EFL Championship team of the season and also won the young player of the year award. This all came with promotion to the Premier League for the first time.

A relegation saw him flourish in the Championship once again, being nominated for young player of the season as he was before.

He has made over 200 appearances for the canaries and brings experience in the Premier League and Championship with him.

He was included in the 2023 Under-21s European Championships, starting in the final as England won the tournament.

What will Max Aarons add to Bournemouth?

He is a marauding full back and loves to get forward, taking on players one-on-one, something which could be beneficial to Bournemouth this season.

He partnered well with Emiliano Buendia at Norwich in the Championship, in Dango Outtarra, there is a similar link up that could form there.

With Outtarra coming inside and causing problems in central areas, it leaves space for Aarons to exploit out wide, which is his biggest strength.

He works well under-pressure on the ball, being able to pick out different styles of passes, adding an aspect of unpredictability to the Cherries play.

With his medical reportedly booked in and Aarons on his way down south, a move looks extremely likely.

He is positive going forward which will benefit Iraola’s side in games with team’s in and around them. Being able to get his side out of trouble against better sides will also be a huge plus.
