Tottenham Hotspur are making a move for Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly and could offer a swap deal including Eric Dier.

It was reported this morning that Spurs held interest in the Cherries defender but no formal bid had been made.

Andoni Iraola does not want to lose Kelly and as a result a deal could be difficult.

With limited time remaining in the transfer window, a replacement would be difficult to bring in before the deadline.

As a result of this, Ange Postecoglou’s side could offer Dier in the deal to make a move more likely.

Speaking on Sky Sports, journalist, Michael Bridges has claimed that a swap deal is being explored.

What has Michael Bridges said about Eric Dier?

Dier has been linked away from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium all summer as he isn’t in Postecoglou’s plans for his tactical vision.

Bridges ‘understands’ that a conversation has been had, with no movement as of yet.

With all this being said, there is no guarantee that either player would want the move.

On this point, Bridges said: “Dier is keen to stay here until the end of his contract and potentially look for a move to a European side when his contract runs out.”

The Englishman’s contract expires at the end of the current season, which would allow Dier to move on a free transfer.

With a wage of nearly £80,000 per week at Spurs, he would likely take a hefty pay cut to move to the Vitality.

By waiting a season and moving on a free, he may even secure himself a higher wage elsewhere.

It appears that without the Cherries being able to bring in another centre back, they won’t let Kelly go.

With Dier not wanting a move, this one doesn’t feel like a goer.
