Andoni Iraola was ‘really happy’ with his sides performance as Bournemouth drew 0-0 with Chelsea this weekend.
It was a very back and forth game which was a shock goalless draw given the number of chances.
Both sides had 10+ shots with 1.04 xG for the Cherries beaten by the Blues’ 1.85.
With a new contract this week, Dominic Solanke looked the most likely to score for Iraola’s side.
Four shots throughout the game but couldn’t get past Robert Sanchez in net.
Raheem Sterling thought he had dragged his side in front as his free kick smashed of the post and bar and away.
A draw was maybe a fair result but given the chances, no goals in the game may be a concern for both sides.
What has Andoni Iraola said?
It must be said that not having a win yet this season may be an issue, but with a tough start and good performances, it is fine right now.
Iraola was pleased with his side: “I’m really happy with the performance. I think the game was quite level, we had chances, they had chances. It is strange it’s finished 0-0.”
As before mentioned, over 2.5 combined xG between the two teams, you would expect at least one goal on the day.

In spite of the result, the Spaniard was happy with the performance: “We finished the game even better, at the end we could feel the game was probably ours.
“I think the intensity of the game went to our side, especially from 75 to 90 minutes we had some chances, we were pushing a lot.”
With that being said, Iraola was not naïve to Chelsea’s chances: “We have to respect them, the free kick and the one in the first half, we both had our chances.”
The Cherries boss was keen to point out an individual performance from the game: “Lewis Cook was amazing, he had a really tough job but he is an amazing player.
“With every ball he was very aggressive and with the ball he was very calm even at the end on the wing full of energy.”
A positive performance and a good point against opposition with high expectations, a point isn’t anything to be sniffed at.
