Bournemouth are set to miss out on the signing of Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams this summer.
According to the Daily Mail’s Transfer Confidential bulletin, Bournemouth target Tyler Adams is set to join Chelsea.
Andoni Iraola has already discussed Bournemouth’s need to bring in additional midfield options, and the recent collapse of Gaetano Castovilli’s move to the Vitality Stadium will have made that concern even more pressing.
Bournemouth are said to have shown an interest in Adams already this summer, and may have planned to make a push to sign the American after missing out on bringing Castrovilli in from Fiorentina. That now looks to have been scuppered by Chelsea’s approach for the player. Bournemouth wouldn’t be able to outmuscle the Blues financially if it came down to a bidding war for Adams.
It will be a major blow to Iraola to see Adams, who Leeds paid £20 million to sign from RB Leipzig in 2022, join Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Bournemouth may regret missing out on Adams
Despite Leeds getting relegated from the top flight last season, Adams was regularly able to show his quality for the Yorkshire outfit. The 24-year-old was a key figure in the middle of the park at Elland Road, often dictating the pace of his side’s play, before a hamstring injury ended his season early in March.
The 36-cap USA international made 24 Premier League appearances last season and did more than enough in that time to show he could thrive in the top flight of English football. Adams would have been a fine addition to Iraola’s squad. The Spanish coach will now have to turn to other options to bolster his midfield contingent.
Bournemouth have already been busy this summer, strengthening in key areas with a number of smart signings, but they may come to regret not having acted earlier where Adams is concerned.
