Bournemouth have activated the release clause for Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Bournemouth have triggered Tyler Adams’ £20 million release clause, and are hoping to confirm the capture of the Leeds United ace quickly, as the player is keen on making the switch to the Vitality Stadium.

Adams had looked set to join Chelsea earlier this summer, with the Cherries destined to miss out on their man. However, there was a dramatic twist in the tale as the Blues pulled out of the move in order to focus on their pursuits of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

That opened the door for Bournemouth to come back to the table, and the south coast club have acted quickly to make an offer for Adams. Leeds will be disheartened to see the talented 24-year-old leave Elland Road, but may find that they benefit from his £55,000-a-week wages being off their books now that they’re a Championship club once again.

Adams another brilliant addition for Bournemouth

Andoni Iraola has previously discussed his desire to bolster Bournemouth’s midfield contingent this summer. Adams certainly strengthens his side in the middle of the park. The 36-cap USA international was one of the stand out players during his time with Leeds and has the quality to be a star for Bournemouth.

Given how close he was to joining a club of Chelsea’s stature, Adams’ arrival at Bournemouth would have to be recognised as a major coup for the club. Iraola will be delighted with the deal, and £20 million looks like something of a bargain in the current market for defensive midfielders.

The arrival of Adams at the Vitality Stadium, assuming his move is confirmed from this point without a hitch, will spark even more optimism amongst Bournemouth fans who have already enjoyed a busy summer, with the likes of Justin Kluivert, Max Aarons, Alex Scott, and Milos Kerkez, amongst others, joining the club.
