Leeds chief executive slams new Cherries’ signings for ‘disrespect’

Leeds United chief executive, Angus Kinnear, has spoken out over the sales of Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra, saying they were unprofessional.

Adams and Sinisterra signed for Bournemouth this summer with the latter joining on loan for the season.

Leeds United suffered relegation from the Premier League last season following four managers and 78 goals conceded.

As a result, plenty of their star players were linked heavily with moves away from Elland Road.

16 players left the club this summer in total, while nine were brought in.

Players like Wilfred Gnonto had allegedly refused to play and effectively gone on strike to force through a move.

It doesn’t appear Adams or Sinisterra did this, but Kinnear is focusing on them none the less.

What has Angus Kinnear said about Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra?

It is clear that players with the pedigree of Adams and Sinisterra would prefer to play in a top league.

The American is a full international and has played Champions League football as recently as two seasons ago.

By comparison Sinisterra has a runners up medal in the Conference League and has played top European football since 2018.

With all due respect to the Championship, they don’t want to be playing there.

This was a factor Kinnear understood: “I respect all players’ desire to play at the highest level.

“They have short careers and they should have the opportunity, should they want to, to play at the highest level.”

The Leeds chief appears to fully understand his players want and drive to play in the Premier League.

He continues this feeling saying: “One of the things that we sell to players is that ‘you’re joining a Premier League team who are on a trajectory.

“We’re going to be consistent Premier League performers.’ They didn’t want to join a Championship side.”

So even with this apparent understanding, Kinnear still wasn’t happy.

“I think there are ways you can handle your desire to play at the highest level. From a personal perspective I don’t think either of those two players handled it particularly well.”

The Leeds man doesn’t go into any detail over the circumstances, however was clearly aggrieved about the whole situation.

We will never likely know the details of the matter and unless both sides of the story are told, it has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Kinnear ended his thoughts saying: ” I don’t think it’s a way to behave towards a club that’s looked after you.”

It is a sadness that he feels this way, Cherries fans can be hopeful that this won’t effect their game.
